I happened to catch one of the History Channel’s episodes in their series on the seven deadly sins. The show was focused on lust and how attitudes towards it have changed over time.

The show concluded with neurologists studying how the brain is affected when exposed to suggestive material. The most interesting finding was that areas of the brain controlling judgment were suppressed when the subject was stimulated. It wasn’t a very conclusive experiment, but it suggests that lust can lead you to have poor judgment and even make bad decisions.

I’m looking forward to watching the other episodes to see what they have to say about envy, gluttony, sloth, greed, anger, and pride.
